Whale Festival and marina events
The Whale Festival is the destination’s clearest visitor event cluster. In 2026 the organiser listed Blessing of the Fleet on 10 July and the main festival on 29–30 August. The program, venues and free/ticketed components belong to the organiser’s live page.
The late-August weekend justifies a specific accommodation warning, particularly for Urangan, marina-side stock and family apartments. It does not justify a claim that every room in Hervey Bay sells out.
Sporting events
The Half Marathon and Hervey Bay 100 create participant-driven weekends around Seafront Oval and other event infrastructure. Competitors need registration, course and check-in information from the organiser; general visitors need road/parking and accommodation awareness.
